Recent jobs: refrigerator, washer, dryer, dishwasher, gas range and stacked laundry repairs
Indio is our home base. That matters on a July afternoon when the fridge quits, because the closer we are, the sooner the food is cold again. It also means we know the city's housing: the older homes around Old Town with their original hookups, the stucco tracts off Jackson Street and Avenue 48, and the newer communities north of Interstate 10 where nearly every kitchen came with the same builder-grade appliances.
This page explains how we work, how to decide whether an appliance is worth fixing, and what Indio's climate does to your appliances month by month.
How Appliance Repair Works in Indio: 4 Steps
Call and describe the problemTell us the appliance, the brand and what it's doing. If you can, read us the model number from the label. It helps us bring the right parts.
Diagnosis at your homeThe technician tests the appliance in place and finds the failed part rather than guessing.
Price before any workYou get the repair price up front. If the appliance isn't worth repairing, we'll tell you and you owe nothing for a repair you didn't approve.
Repair and desert checkWe repair it on the spot when the part is on the truck, then check the things that cause repeat failures in Indio: condenser coils, dryer vent airflow and water-supply scale.
Repair or Replace? An Honest Guide for Indio Homeowners
A simple rule we share with every customer: if the repair costs less than half the price of a comparable new appliance, and the appliance is within its normal lifespan, repairing it is usually the better deal. Typical lifespans for appliances in normal use are:
Appliance
Typical lifespan
Indio note
Refrigerator
10 to 15 years
Desert heat and garage installs shorten this
Washer
10 to 13 years
Front-loads need gasket care
Dryer
12 to 15 years
Vent airflow is the biggest factor
Dishwasher
9 to 12 years
Hard water scale is the main enemy
Gas or electric range
13 to 15 years
Igniters and elements are cheap fixes
Microwave
8 to 10 years
Built-in models are worth repairing
Freezer
11 to 15 years
Keep garage units out of direct heat
Past those ages, or when the sealed system of a refrigerator or freezer fails on an older unit, replacement often makes more sense. We'll give you our honest opinion either way.
The Indio Appliance Calendar
Indio's festivals, heat and seasonal residents follow a yearly rhythm, and so do appliance breakdowns. Here's what to watch for each season.
January – February
Date Festival season brings guests and big meals. Ovens and ranges get their heaviest use of the year, and it's a good time to check igniters and bake elements.
March – April
Coachella and Stagecoach weekends fill Indio homes and rentals. Washers, dryers and ice makers run nonstop, so a quick check before April avoids a breakdown mid-festival.
May – September
The heat season. Clean refrigerator coils, keep garage refrigerators and freezers shaded and ventilated, and protect electronics from monsoon-storm power surges.
October – December
Seasonal residents return. Run the dishwasher and washer once empty, check door gaskets and ice makers that sat all summer, and test the oven before the holidays.

Compare the repair price with the cost of a similar new appliance and consider its age. If the repair is less than about half the replacement cost and the appliance is within its normal lifespan, repair is usually the smarter choice. We give you the repair price before any work so you can decide.
Where do I find my appliance's model number?
Refrigerators usually have a label inside on a side wall or under the crisper drawers. Washers and dryers have one inside the door or lid. Dishwashers have one on the edge of the door, and ranges inside the oven door frame or behind the bottom drawer. A photo of that label is the most useful thing you can send us.
My appliance is still under the manufacturer's warranty. Should I call you?
Call the manufacturer first, since warranty repairs are usually covered by their authorized service. Once the warranty has ended, or if the manufacturer can't get to you quickly, we can repair it.
What should I do before the technician arrives?
Clear a path to the appliance, empty a washer or dishwasher if possible, and note any error codes on the display. For a refrigerator, move the food to a cooler so we can work without rushing.
Can summer storms damage my appliances?
Yes. Monsoon storms in Indio can cause power outages and surges that damage the control boards in modern refrigerators, washers and ranges. A surge protector rated for large appliances is inexpensive insurance.
How can I make my appliances last longer in the Indio heat?
Clean refrigerator coils twice a year, change water filters every six months, clean the dryer lint screen every load and the vent once a year, and keep garage appliances shaded with space around them for airflow.
